Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

Obs:

A statistical locality is a built-up area with at least 200 inhabitants registered as resident and densely built-up areas. Information about the population is based on the Total Population Register. It includes information about registered persons per address on 31 December of the current year. Up until the urban areas of 2015, the population was linked to property coordinates. Locality reference year refers to the time of the geographical distribution of the locality. Year refers to the time of the population registered. Dates are 31 December each year. A statistical method is used to protect the data of individuals in the statistics presented. For this reason, the presented totals do not always equal the sum of their reported components. See also section 2.2.6 Model assumptions in the quality declaration documentation on Statistics Sweden’s website.

The method used for disclosure control is called Cell Key Method (CKM). You can read more about the method here: Protection methods for disclosure control and here: Development of disclosure protection.
The CKM method has been applied to all values in the table, except for the reference years 2005, 2010, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2023 in combination with the locality reference years 2005, 2010, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2023. 25 March 2026: Values have been revised for locality reference year 2015 in combination with population data for the years 2018–2023, as well as for locality reference year 2010 in combination with population data for the years 2015 and 2017. The reason for the revision is an updated and harmonised method for calculating the population lacking address information in the population register. In the statistics, these individuals are allocated to the largest urban area within each municipality. Population data for 2016 and 2017, in combination with locality reference years 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2023, have been revised due to improved population data. Minor discrepancies occur between the values presented in this table and those in other tables with population in localities/urban areas. This is due to methodological developments in how the population is geocoded, particularly regarding the geocoding of individuals who lack an address in the population register. The variable “locality” refers to the classification of urban areas and localities by size category based on population for the respective year. The category 200–499 also includes localities with fewer than 200 inhabitants, if the population has declined in relation to the population recorded in the reference year for the locality boundary. When the locality reference year is the same as the population reference year, the population of the locality is always at least 200 inhabitants.
