Equivalised disposable income
Disposable income is the sum of all taxable and tax-free income minus taxes and negative transfers. The income is both including and excluding capital gains/losses, that is, the gain/loss arising from a sale (realization) of assets, for example, stocks, mutual funds or real estate.
Incomes are equivalised, which means that the household disposable income is adjusted for household size by using a weight system. The unit of measurement is equivalised disposable income for persons. Region Region refers to place of residence by December 31st each year. The classification is based on the most frequently occurring region during each period. In case of equal number of occurences, the initial one is chosen. Household type Household type indicates the composition of the household by December 31st each year. The classification is based on the most frequently occurring type of household during each period. In case of equal number of occurences, the initial one is chosen. Single with children 0–19 years refers to a single parent with at least one child aged 0–19, and where appropriate, other persons aged 20 years and older with a parent-child relationship with one of the reference persons in the household. A parent-child relationship is created if a person is a biological parent, adoptive parent, guardian or 'Other person' to someone in the household. Cohabiting refers to persons who are married/registered partners alternative persons living together in consensual union. Cohabiting with children 0–19 years refers to cohabiting persons with at least one child aged 0–19, and where appropriate, other persons aged 20 years and older with a parent-child relationship with one of the reference persons in the household. A parent-child relationship is created if a person is a biological parent, adoptive parent, guardian or 'Other person' to someone in the household. Other household refers to households that are not classified as single or cohabiting. Children refer to people aged 0–19, independently of a parent-child relationship to another person in the household. Age Age is based on the person´s age at the start year of each period. The statistics include salaries and pension income from other Nordic countries from income year 2011. As of the publication of income year 2020, the statistics for the years 2011-2019 have been revised.
The extent of the total income from the other Nordic countries varies over time. For the years 2011–2014, data availability is limited, which is largely due to deficiencies in data from Norway. For 2011, there is basically no income from Norway. For the years 2012–2014, the macro amount for Norway is approximately half of the amount for 2015.
Further information can be found in the statistics quality declaration on Statistics Sweden website.
The statistics include shared residence for children when the parents do not live together. As of the publication of the income year 2022, the statistics for the years 2011-2020 have been revised. See the report Income Distribution Statistics and Shared Residence for further information.
