Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

Obs:

As the LFS is a sample survey, all estimations are subject to uncertainty. Uncertainty in estimations based on fewer than 20 observations on a monthly or quarterly basis or fewer than 40 observations on a yearly basis may be considered too large and the estimation is not reported. In these cases, the value is replaced with two periods [..]. For the period 2005–2020, the categories full-time student, retirement and illness are reported separately. Other categories are included in the group other reasons. The group other reasons thus contains more categories during the period 2005–2020 than for the period 2021 onwards. For the period 2005M01–2020M12, the time series contains ´linked data´. No margins of error (uncertainty figures) are reported for the period, this is instead marked as '..' in the time series. The series 2001M01–2004M12 are macrolinked and for the period 2005M01–2020M12 they are microlinked. The estimates regarding quarter 1 2005 and its constituent months are based on a smaller number of responses than other periods. These estimates are therefore more uncertain and should be used with caution. In 2023, the retirement age was raised from 65 to 66 years, and in 2026, it will be raised to 67 years. This results in the reporting of more age groups in the LFS. To enable comparisons over time, the age groups 16–65, 16–66, 20–65, and 20–66 are reported back to 2021.

reason

job seeker

Classifies himself/herself as job seeker but does not fulfil the criteria for unemployment.

conscripts in military service

Conscripts in military service are no longer included in the target population of LFS and are therefore not reported.

retirement

Early retirement pension for health reasons is included in illness.

illness

Early retirement pension for health reasons is included in illness.

other reasons

For the period 2005–2020, the categories full-time student, retirement and illness are reported separately. Other categories are included in the group other reasons. The group other reasons thus contains more categories during the period 2005–2020 than for the period 2021 onwards.

observations

Margin of error ±, 1000s

The presented margin of error corresponds to a 95 percent confidence interval.

observations

Margin of error ±, 1000s

Because the LFS is a sample survey based on a national random probability sample, there is a degree of uncertainty that can be calculated. The presented information consists of estimations and consideration must be taken to uncertainty/margin of error when drawing conclusions. The interval that is created by the level estimation ± margin of error here is a 95 percent confidence interval, which is an interval with a 95 percent probability including the actual value.
