Now you have come to the page, Choose variable. This page give you the oportunity to select which variables and values you want to display in your result of the table. A variable is a property of a statistical unit. The page is divided into several boxes, one for each variable, where you can select values by click to highlight one or more values. It always starts with the statistics variable which is the main value counted in the table.

(maximum number allowed is 150 000)

Presentation on screen is limited to 1 000 rows and 30 columns

Number of selected cells exceeds the maximum allowed 150 000

Obs:

The table contains data on water abstraction by type of water, such as ground water, surface water and sea water. If source of water is unknown, it is assigned to the category not allocated water. Seawater used by nuclear power plants is not included in the statistics. The volume of seawater used by the nuclear power plants is approximately 10 billion cubic meters. Before year 2000 water abstraction cannot be broken down on county or river basin district. Measurements for the years 1970–1980 are uncertain and should be considered approximate. Sea water volumes for the years 1970–1985 are based on a survey conducted in 1983.

region

The table contains data on water abstraction by country, county and river basin district according to current regional divisions. Figures according to older regional divisions have been restated in order to facilitate comparisons over time.

type of water

fresh water total

The sum of groundwater, surface water and not allocated water.

fresh water total

Surface water and groundwater with a mass salinity less than around 0,5 per mille.

ground water

The water located beneath Earth’s surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations. From year 2000, water produced by bank filtration (induced infiltration of surface water) is included in surface water.

surface water

Surface water is water on the surface of the planet such as in a stream, river, lake, wetland, or ocean. From year 2000, water produced by bank filtration (induced infiltration of surface water) is included in surface water.

seawater

Sea water (salt or brackish water) recovered from the sea. Sea water is surface water with a mass salinity higher than around 0,5 per mille.

not allocated water

Water with unknown source (ground water, surface water or sea water).
