Culture reserve
Pursuant to Chapter 7, Section 9 of the Environmental Code, a county council or municipality may designate a culture reserve for the purpose of preserving valuable cultural landscapes. This form of protection was introduced on 1 January 1999 with the entry into force of the Environmental Code. In a choice between nature reserve and culture reserve, the purpose of the protection is crucial. Culture reserves consist of, for example, the environmental types farm environment, village environment, summer pasture, saw mill community and manor environment.
