Revision 2023-05-15: The distribution by fields of research and development for natural sciences, engineering and technology as well as social sciences under General advancement of knowledge: R&D financed from General University Funds (GUF) has been revised. Starting with the reference year 2024 for preliminary statistics and final statistics for the reference year 2023, government grants for clinical research are reported under the socio-economic objective Health. Previously, these R&D funds were reported for the general advancement of knowledge financed by public general university funds (GUF). Statistics Sweden’s assessment is that funding for clinical research aims to promote health and medical care and does not refer to block grants to universities in order to carry out their regular research activities.
