Obs:

Changes in divisions of counties and municipalities affect the statistics for some years. For more information, see Statistics Swedens withdrawal system for regional divisions: REGINA. Two dots (..) mean that value is missing Shares and areas cannot be summed up, because different types of protection may overlap. Share in percent refers to protected area compared to Swedens entire area. From 2023, Swedens entire area is calculated using the Land Surveys data on municipal and county boundaries (geodata Topografi 10). The statistics refers to areas that were valid (i.e. had gained legal force) on the December 31 reference year. Type of environment is based on data on water types from Lantmäteriet (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority).
