Obs:

The dependency ratio relates the number of young persons (0–19 years old) and older persons (65 years or over) to the working-age population (20–64 years old). The dependency ratio is purely demographic and only takes into account the number of people of different ages. How many people actually work is not considered in the calculation. The measure reports the ratio in numbers and should not be confused with shares/percentages.

If the ratio is higher than 100, it means that there are more people who need to be provided for than there are people who provide for themselves. If it is below 100, it means that there are more people who provide. A total dependency ratio of, for example, 77 means that out of 100 people of working age, there are 77 people who are younger or older. The higher the dependency ratio, the heavier the dependency burden is for those in the 20–64 age group.
The NUTS is the regional classification used in the EU for statistical reporting. In Sweden, NUTS 3 corresponds to counties.
