Mean value and Median value, percentage of value for all persons
Refers to the mean value and median value for different groups reported as the value in relation to the mean value and median value of the whole population (at the national level). For example, 126% means that a certain group has a disposable income that is 26 percent higher than the national value and 83% means that the income is 17 percent less than the national value. Delineations
The population is delimited to so-called full-year households, which refers to households where the adults have been registered in Sweden at both the beginning and the end of the year. Read more about the delimitations in the statistics quality declaration on the Statistics Sweden website.

Incomes in fixed prices, referring to last year of data. Equivalised disposable income
Incomes are equivalised, which means that the household disposable income is adjusted for household size by using a weight system. The unit of measurement is equivalised disposable income for persons.

Disposable income is the sum of all taxable and tax-free income minus taxes and negative transfers. The income is available both including and excluding capital gains/losses, that is, the gain/loss arising from a sale (realization) of assets, for example, stocks, mutual funds or real estate. Income in relation to the median income
Shows the proportion of the population that has an equivalised disposable income lower or higher than XX percent of the national median income. For example, Income < 40 percent refers to the share with an income lower than 40 percent of the national median income, while Income > 200 percent refers to the share of the population with an income twice as high as the national median income. Gainfully employed refers to people not classified as students, whose wage and business income exceeds two price basic amounts and is greater than half of the total income from employment and business.

Students refers to people whose income of study grants (including study loans) is greater than one quarter of a price basic amount and whose total wage and business income is less than 3.5 price basic amounts.

Unemployed refers to people not classified as students, whose income from labour market assistance is greater than half of the total income from employment and business.

Sick refers to people not classed as students, whose sickness compensation is greater than half of the total income from employment and business. Includes people with sickness and activity compensation.

Pensioners refers to people not classified as students, whose income from retirement pension, occupational pension, private pension etc. is more than half of the total income from employment and business.

Parental leave refers to people not classed as students, whose income from parental allowance is greater than half of the total income from employment and business.

Other non gainfully employed refers to people not classified as gainfully employed, students, unemployed, sick, retirees or on parental leave. Foreign/Swedish background
Foreign background refers to foreign born, or people born in Sweden with foreign born parents. Swedish background refers to Swedish born with two Swedish born parents or Swedish born with one Swedish born parent and one foreign born parent. The statistics include salaries and pension income from other Nordic countries from income year 2011. As of the publication of income year 2020, the statistics for the years 2011-2019 have been revised.
The extent of the total income from the other Nordic countries varies over time. For the years 2011–2014, data availability is limited, which is largely due to deficiencies in data from Norway. For 2011, there is basically no income from Norway. For the years 2012–2014, the macro amount for Norway is approximately half of the amount for 2015.
