Obs:

Statistics Sweden conducts data collection in accordance to the Eurostat manual ”Environmental goods and services sector accounts - Handbook” (2016). It describes which environmental areas, industries and variables (e.g. output and export) to include. Environmental Goods and Services Sector is commonly abbreviated using the letters EGSS.

Statistics Sweden follows the Eurostat and EU definition of EGSS. EU regulation 691/2011 describes EGSS as the production activities of a national economy that generate environmental products for the purpose of environmental protection and resource management. Resource management includes the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of the stock of natural resources and therefore the safeguarding of those resources against depletion.
The regional estimations in the Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS) is based on every business or organisation workplace. The variables presented in this table have been distributed from the business or organisation to the workplace according to the share of employees in the workplace in relation to the employees in the whole business/organization. For the business sector the same distribution shares have been used as are already used in the Structural Business Statistics.

observations

Value added, SEK million

The value added and production value in the Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS) is comparable with the value added and production value found in the National Accounts (NA). Because the EGSS is a subsector of the economy found in many different industries, some form of distribution of the variables from the NA is needed. The Structural Business Statistics (SBS) is used for that purpose, forming a distribution key out of the same variables (production value and value added) from the SBS. For the public sector, the Annual Accounts for Municipalities and Government Finance Statistics are used in a similar way. For Non Profit Institutions Serving Households (NPISH), statistics on Gross Pay is used to distribute NA production value and value added. Value added figures for 2016 are preliminary.
