Population Information about the population is based on the Total Population Register. It includes information about registered persons per property on 31 December of the current year. As of 2018, population in urban areas is calculated using data linked to addresses. Locality Since 1960 Statistics Sweden has defined areas with continuous buildings and a population of at least 200 inhabitants. Localities thus include everything from the largest cities to small areas with only 200 inhabitants. Statistics Sweden does not have its own definition of sparsely populated areas or countryside areas.

2015

2015
Statistics relating to 2015 show 250 more people in localities compared to other tables of population within and outside of localities in 2015. The difference is due to different methods for handling people who do not have information about cadastral parcel in the population register. In 2015, they were registered at the center coordinate for the parish. There is a difference in whether the parish´s coordinates are within or outside the locality area, depending on the time when the statistics were created. Today, a different method is used. Statistics referring to years after 2015 use the center coordinate for the largest locality per municipality, for placement of persons without a registered address or cadastral parcel.
