Source: Labour statistics based on administrative sources (RAMS) Description of gainfully employed: Labour statistics based on administrative sources Source: Educational attainment of the population Description of education: Educational attainment of the population If the number is 3 or less, it will be replaced by (..). The new Swedish Standard Classification of Education, SUN 2020, was implemented in the 2019 version of the Swedish Register of Education. The classification of the level of education remains unchanged compared with SUN 2000. As a result of the implementation of SUN 2020, at the 1-digit level, the area 8 Services decreased by 1.4%, while the areas 4 Natural Sciences, mathematics and Information and Communication technologies (ICTs) and 5 Engineering, manufacturing and construction increased by 1.3% and 0.2% respectively among persons aged 25-64. Other changes are minor at the 1-digit level. For further information about SUN 2020, see Section 5.1 in the Quality Declaration for the Educational attainment of the population (UF0506) and www.scb.se/SUN (Swedish version only). Duration of residence refers to the total amount of time that a person has been registered in the population in Sweden and is specified for persons who have immigrated to Sweden. Certain foreign citizens who are born in Sweden must apply for a residence permit. They are usually granted a residence permit for the same period as their parents. If the parents do not have a residence permit, the child´s application is examined together with the parent´s application. Occupation: Time series break, as from reference year 2019, a new data source and method are used to produce the statistics. The monthly employer reports at individual level (AGI) have replaced the annual statements of earnings (KU) and gainfully employed persons are now classified based on wages/salaries paid in November. Further information on the changes is available at Labour statistics based on administrative sources (RAMS) Statistics for 2018 and previous years, see Old tables, not updated The region of birth is based on the country of birth listed in the population register and based on the distribution of each year. In order to be classified as ´gainfully employed´, the person must have earned income exceeding an estimated limit, or have submitted tax returns for business activity during the year concerned. The limit that determines whether or not an employed person is gainfully employed is estimated using a model-based method. The aim is to find a level of earned income that, as far as possible, corresponds to the definition of ´employment´ of the International Labour Organization (ILO). People with earned income that is higher than the limit are assumed to be gainfully employed. Level of education: The highest level of education refers to the highest level of education obtained at the end of the spring term of the year concerned.
The source of the variable is Statistics Sweden´s Education Register. Stated with the education code according to the Swedish education nomenclature (SUN code). See ´´Swedish education nomenclature (SUN). Part 1. Systematic version´´ (MIS 1988:4 and 1996:1).
