Persons received by a municipality for settlement refers to persons who were granted a residence permit as a refugee or as a person granted subsidiary protection, according to certain provisions in the Aliens Act (2005:716), and their families, and who are covered by the Ordinance on state compensation for measures for certain aliens (2010:1122).
Information on the year of reception by a municipality is available as from 1997.
Up to 2016, a person was presumed to be assigned to a municipality if the person’s grounds for residency (GFB) was as a family member of a refugee/person eligible for subsidiary protection/ compassionate grounds/permit under a temporary law or other permit, refugees
The years 1968–1982 shows the regional divisions according of January 1, 1983. Adjustments to reflect January 1, 1983 have been made using parish division but not on real estate level, which means that there may be gaps in the statistics. The year 1983 and onwards show the regional division on January 1 of the following year.

Since 1 January 1999, a new regional division has been established. Parts of Södertälje municipality have formed a new municipality called Nykvarn.

From 2011-01-01 Storholmen belongs to Lidingö (0186) which before belonged to Vaxholm (0187).

03 Uppsala county

Since 1 January 2007, Uppsala county has been expanded to include Heby municipality. Please note that the figures for the county are not comparable with earlier figures.

0330 Knivsta

New regional division from 2003-01-01. Parts of Uppsala municipality formed a new municipality called Knivsta municipality.

0331 Heby

Since 1 January 2007, Heby municipality has been transferred from Västmanland county to Uppsala county. The code for Heby has changed from 1917 to 0331.

0380 Uppsala

New regional division from 2003-01-01. Parts of Uppsala municipality formed a new municipality called Knivsta municipality.

19 Västmanland county

Since 1 January 2007, Västmanland county no longer includes Heby municipality. Please note that the figures for the county are not comparable with earlier figures.

The figures include persons transferred to the register of people with residence unknown, i.e. persons who have been registered for at least two years under the title Residence unknown

Immigration surplus

The figures include persons transferred to and from the register of people with residence unknown, i.e. Persons who continuously under two years have been registered under Residence unknown
