Obs:

The statistics refers to areas that were valid (i.e. had gained legal force) on the December 31 reference year. The instruments for protection included in the statistics are national parks, nature reserves, habitat protection areas, Natura 2000 areas, nature conservation agreements and intra-governmental agreements. The statistics are cleared from overlapping areas. Nature reserves, Natura 2000 and nature conservation agreements include areas without restrictions, for example without regulations against forestry. Nature conservation agreements include the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s and the Swedish Forest Agency’s nature conservation agreements, the White-Backed Woodpecker Action Plan, and “ekoparker. The boundary for mountain forests in accordance with the Swedish Forest Agency delimitation. There is a boundary for mountain forests in parts of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland, and Dalarna counties. Share in percent refers to protected areas in the subalpine region, compared to the entire area of the subalpine region.
