Obs:

For the 2000 version, the Swedish Register of Education underwent extensive quality improvements which led to a break in the time series and this means that comparisons with previous versions of the register must be done very carefully! -1) SUN, the Swedish Educational Terminology, was adapted to the international terminology ISCED 97 (International Standard Classification of Education) with the new SUN 2000. -2) A number of new data sources were added to the register. The most important new sources were: -*Total higher education points from 1993 from the Higher Education Register* -*Total KOMVUX (adult education) points from 1988* -*Foreign educational programmes which are recognised by the National Agency for Higher Education* -*The National Board of Healths register of healthcare and medical staff*.

observations

Immigrants

Level of educational attainment for immigrants refer to the year after the immigration or education completed abroad that has later been reported to Statistics Sweden. Data for the latest year will be completed the following year. Education attained abroad is self-reported while education attained in Sweden in most cases are reported by educational institutions. A change in the question about level of attainment in the annual survey of educational background for recent immigrants 2003 affects comparability with earlier years for ISCED97 level 6.

Immigrants

In the Swedish Register of Education 2017, the annual survey “Education in a country other than Sweden” has been sent only to immigrants during the last year who don´t have information on educational attainment registered at the Swedish public employment service. The highest level of education registered at the source “Swedish public employment service” is “post-secondary education less than 3 years”.

Emigrants

Level of educational attainment for emmigrants refer to programs completed not later than the year of the emigration. Data for the latest year are not complete at the first time of publishing and are therefore updated the subsequent year.

level of education

The classification by level of educational attainment is according to the Swedish national educational classification (SUN)
