Production tax

The production taxes on electricity were originally three taxes (in our grouping); tax on hydropower, electricity tax on nuclear power and tax on dismantling and storing. The tax on dismantling and storing is the only one still included. The tax on hydopower disappeared January 1, 1997. The tax on nuclear power ceased July 1, 2000, and was replaced with a tax on nuclear reactor thermal power. It is included as an environmental tax in the total tables over environmental taxes (see www.scb.se/mi1301-en). It is not included in the table above (statistical databases) since it is not directly a tax on electricity production. The production taxes on electricity are also distributed on another industry not included in this table, i.e. export. The national accounts distributes the taxes to export because the tax is included implicitly in the price of electricity to the consumer and the distribution is based on the use of energy. For more information about this contact the environmental accounts, miljorakenskaper@scb.se.
