This table contains statistics on water use in industry disaggregated by NACE section and type of use. Industry is defined as companies within section B, C and D (Mining and quarrying, Manufacturing and Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply) in the NACE framework. Water use corresponds to the purpose of the usage, e.g. cooling water, process water, water for sanitary use etc. Note that water use by from nuclear power plants is not included in the table. Volumes of used water can differ from volumes of abstracted water. For data on water abstraction by NACE section, please use the table: Water abstraction in industry by NACE section and type of water.
The statistics refer to water abstraction during the entire year of reference.
