Footnotes

National emissions and removals of greenhouse gases were calculated by SMED, on behalf of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, for the annual greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with the guidelines under the UNFCCC. Read more on www.naturvardsverket.se/klimatutslapp (in Swedish) or in Swedish submissions of greenhouse gas inventories on the UNFCCC website http://unfccc.int/national_reports/annex_i_ghg_inventories/national_inventories_submissions/items/8812.php.

Biogenic carbon dioxide arises from renewable organic materials, for example different parts of plants, sewage sludge or slaughter wastes, e.g. biofuel. Biofuels can be gaseous, i.e. biogas, liquid, i.e. ethanol, or solid, i.e. wood, grains or wood pellets. Peat is not considered a biofuel.
