Obs:

Duration of residence is calculated based on number of days, and a new year does not occur until 364 days become 365 days. This means that if a person has been recorded in the Swedish population register for 729 days (1 year and 364 days), that person ends up in the group Duration of residence 0–1 years. If the person has been recorded in the population register for 730 days, the person ends up in the group Duration of residence 2–3 years. The breakdown of other groups works in a similar way, which means that a person must have a duration of residence of at least 3,650 days to end up in the group Duration of residence 10– years.
Ahead of the year 2000, considerable changes were made to the Register of Education to improve quality, with a new nomenclature and a number of new sources, which led to a break in the time series. For this reason, comparisons with prior years must be made with great caution. For more information see: More information about the education of the population.

Sickness rate, number of days

The numerator consists of the number of aggregated net days with sick pay, occupational injury compensation, sickness allowance, activity allowance and rehabilitation allowance during the year. All days are converted to net days. For example, two days of half-allowance is converted into one day. The sickness rate thus describes the average number of days per person paid out by the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. The first 14 days the period of sickness, which are borne by the employer, are not included. The denominator is the registered population on the last day of December in the 20–64 age range.

There is a difference between the sickness rate in this table and the Sickness Rate that the Swedish Social Insurance Agency prepares and publishes as part of the official statistics. The sickness rate in the official statistics is a measure of the number of net days during a twelve-month period for which the Swedish Social Insurance Agency disburses compensation for reduced ability to work in relation to the number of insured persons aged 16–64. The denominator “number of insured persons” is larger than the denominator “registered population”. “Number of insured persons” also includes persons who receive compensation from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency without being registered in Sweden (e.g. in the case of work-based allowances) and includes persons who have been registered throughout the entire year instead of merely on the last day of December.

Proportion of persons who contribute to the sickness rate, percent

The numerator consists of the number of persons aged 20–64 years who receive one or more of the types of remuneration included in the sickness rate. The denominator consists of the registered population on the last day of December in the 20–64 age range.
