observations

Domestic net migration, percent

The numerator consists of domestic immigrants minus the number of domestic emigrants. The denominator consists of the population at 1/1 of the year concerned. Source: Population statistics

International net migration, percent

The numerator consists of immigrants minus the number of emigrants. The denominator consists of the population at 1/1 of the year concerned.
Source: Population statistics

Emigration risk, percent

Compares actual migration with expected migration tendency from the area concerned, with account taken of the age structure. Note that high values need not mean that there is net emigration from the area, see also Domestic net migration.

Ratio between gainfully employed immigrants and gainfully employed emigrants

The numerator consists of the number of gainfully employed domestic immigrants multiplied by 100. The denominator consists of the number of gainfully employed domestic emigrants. If the ratio is greater than 100, this means that the number of gainfully employed persons is higher among immigrants into the area (county, municipality, LUA or URB) than among emigrants out of the area. If instead the ratio is below 100, this means that the number of gainfully employed persons is lower among immigrants into the area than emigrants out of the area. The ratio is calculated for the persons who were between 20 and 64 years old and who, according to the register-based labour market statistics (RAMS), were gainfully employed in November of the same year as they migrated.
