Obs:

Duration of residence is calculated based on number of days, and a new year does not occur until 364 days become 365 days. This means that if a person has been recorded in the Swedish population register for 729 days (1 year and 364 days), that person ends up in the group Duration of residence 0–1 years. If the person has been recorded in the population register for 730 days, the person ends up in the group Duration of residence 2–3 years. The breakdown of other groups works in a similar way, which means that a person must have a duration of residence of at least 3,650 days to end up in the group Duration of residence 10– years.
Ahead of the year 2000, considerable changes were made to the Register of Education to improve quality, with a new nomenclature and a number of new sources, which led to a break in the time series. For this reason, comparisons with prior years must be made with great caution. For more information see: More information about the education of the population.

observations

Proportion of gainfully employed, percent

The numerator consists of the number of gainfully employed persons according to the Register-Based Labour Market Statistics (RAMS). In order to be classified as ‘gainfully employed’, the person must have earned income exceeding an estimated limit, or have submitted tax returns for business activity during the year concerned. The limit that determines whether or not an employed person is gainfully employed is estimated using a model-based method. The aim is to find a limit value – a level of earned income that, as far as possible, corresponds to the definition of ‘employment’ of the International Labour Organization (ILO). People with earned income that is higher than the limit are assumed to be gainfully employed. The denominator consists of the population.
A new source for the self-employed and an adjusted estimation method in RAMS as of the year 2004 causes a break in the time series Aged 20–64 years.

As of the 2018 update of new data from 1997 and onwards, the content of Proportion of persons openly unemployed was also adjusted. Previously, it only included persons who, in the past job-seeking period, were registered as openly unemployed. Before the change, a person could only belong to one job-seeking category in the year concerned. The denominator consists of the population. Aged 20–64 years. Source: STATIV database
