Revised figures 2011-02-17 on May 2009–December 2010. Revised figures January–July 2008. The Shadow index for Sweden is published with two decimals from January 2006. Shadow index numbers differ in some months from the corresponding fixed index numbers, which are the index numbers used in regulations referring to the consumer price index in laws, ordinances and agreements. The shadow index numbers are adjusted to take into account certain inadequacies in the basic data on prices or in the methods used for calculating fixed index numbers. Thus, they are consistent with the index for main and subgroups, where corresponding adjustments have been made. The Net Price Index (NPI) will be phased out and from January 2014 onwards the index is no longer published on Statistics Sweden’s website. Due to existing contracts where NPI is used, Statistics Sweden has however been commissioned to calculate NPI until 31 December 2018. For this period, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) will publish NPI on their website in agreement with Statistics Sweden:
Data for 2006 are revised. - -The Net Price Index shows the development of the part of consumer prices that ramains once the net of indirect taxes minus subsidies has been deducted. Indirect taxation, which is charged on consumer goods at all stages in the distribution chain, has been deducted from consumer prices in the Net Price Index. A similar method has been used for subsidies relating to consumer goods. Annual averages are calculated using index figures rounded to two decimal places. For index linking with NPI, index figures (1980=100) rounded to one decimal place should be used.
